Sara Baratt is Head of Systemic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock Clinic, London. She was formerly Training Director of the Institute of Family Therapy. She been Organising Tutor and Clinical Supervisor on the Qualifying Training in Family Therapy at the Tavistock Clinic and is a member of the Fostering and Adoption team. She also works and consults in General Practice. Her clinical focused has been on work with children who are no longer living with their biological families. Together with Julia
Granville she is developing a research project on working with families brought together by kinship.

Guni Baxa, PhD, born 1941. Guni Baxa trained in several methods of humanist psychology. She works as a psychotherapist and supervisor in her own practice and as a teaching therapist for systemic family therapy. Currently, her work focuses on trainings in constellation work at the Apsys institute for further education in Graz, Austria. Together with Christine Essen and Astrid H. Kreszmeier, she edited “Verkörperungen – Systemische Aufstellung, Körperarbeit und Ritual” (Heidelberg 2002).

Arnon Bentovim is a Child and Family Psychatrist who worked for many years at
the Gt Ormond Street Childrens Hospital in London,and The Tavistock Clinic.He has a particular interest in understanding the impact of family violence on childrens and young peoples emotional and behavioural development.He has researched a number of aspects including the factors which result in children who have been victimised adopting an abusive outlook, re-creating the cycle of violence from generation to generation.Therapeutic approaches require a broad-based systemic approach involving the individual and family in various combinations.In the recent Istanbul World Congress of Family Therapy where he presided for the first time,he presented a development of the way traumatic and stressful events can impact beyond the family on the lives of young people contributing significantly to the sum of violence perpetrated in the world.Perhaps a third is perpetrated by young people,a significant opportunity for intervention,using the famil group, as the key to prevention.

Dr. Luigi Boscolo, after graduating in Medicine in Italy, spent seven years in New-York where, in 1966 completed his studies in Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis. From 1967 to 1980, he was a member of the original "Milan Team" (Selvini Palazzoli, Boscolo, Cecchin, Prata) involved in research and Therapy with families and couples. The team adopted firstly the Palo Alto Strategic Model, then the G.Bateson systemic-Cybernetics Model which grately influeced what is called the "Milan Approach" to therapy. From 1980, Boscolo and Cecchin, after separating from Selvini and Prata, co-direct a new center (Centro Milanese Di Terapia Della Famiglia) adding an intense training program to research and therapy. From 1980, Dr. Boscolo has been travelling extensively in several countries, attending conferences and conducting seminars and workshops.
Among the major works are: Paradox and Counterparadox (Palazzoli M.S., Boscolo L., Cecchin G.F. and Prata G. 1978) Aronson, New-York, Milan Systemic Family Therapy (Boscolo L., Cecchin G.F., Hoffman L., Papp, P. 1987) Basic Books, New-York, The Times of Time: A new perspective in systemic therapy and consultation (Boscolo L., Bertrando P. 1991) Norton, New-York, Individual Systemic Therapy (Boscolo L., Bertrando P. 1997) Karnak - London. All these books have been translated in Spanish.
Dr. Luigi Boscolo hat nach seinem Medizinstudium in Italien sieben Jahre in New York gelebt, wo er seinen Abschluß in Psychiatrie und Psychoanalyse gemacht hat. 1967-1980 war er Mitglied des ursprünglichen „Milan Team“ (Selvini Palazzoli, Boscolo, Cecchin, Prata), das sich mit Forschung und Familien- und Paartherapie beschäftigt hat. Das Team arbeitete zunächst mit dem Palo Alto Strategic Model, dann mit dem G. Bateson Systemic-Cybernetics Model und hat mit seiner Arbeit großen Einfluß auf den sogenannten Mailänder Ansatz in der Therapie genommen. Ab 1980 leiteten Boscolo und Cecchin nach ihrer beruflichen Trennung von Selvini und Prata ein neues Zentrum, das Centro Milanese Di Terapia Della Famiglia und fügten somit ihrer Forschungs- und Therapiearbeit den Aufgabenbereich Ausbildung hinzu. Seit 1980 hat Dr. Boscolo zahlreiche Reisen innerhalb mehrerer Länder unternommen und hat in diesem Rahmen an Konferenzen teilgenommen und Seminare und Workshops veranstaltet. Jan Bout, psychotherapist, is co-ordinator of the Expertise Centre for Relational Problems of the Mental Health Organisation Drenthe (the Netherlands) . With his team he made intensive inpatient and daytreatment programs for couples. Since 1991 75 groups of 5 couples brought an enormous amount of knowledge about how couples are dealing with psychiatric or severe relational problems. He used the techniques of system therapy, milieu therapy, group psychotherapy, short-term dynamic psychotherapy and non-verbal therapies in a combination to breakdown the rigid patterns in the life couples. With the University of Groningen the effect of the treatment is measured.
Jan Bout, Psychotherapeut, ist Koordinator im Expertise Centre for Relational Problems der Mental Health Organisation Drenthe (Niederlande). Mit seinem Team führt er intensive stationäre und ambulante Programme für Paare durch. Seit 1991 hat er durch die Arbeit mit 75 Gruppen von je 5 Paaren eine Vielzahl an Erkenntnissen darüber gewonnen, wie Paare mit psychiatrischen oder schweren Beziehungsproblemen umgehen. In seiner Arbeit kombiniert er Systemtherapie, Milieutherapie, Gruppenpsychotherapie, dynamische Psychotherapie und nonverbale Therapien, um festgefahrene Verhaltensmuster in Paarbeziehungen aufzubrechen. Lois Braverman, M.S.W., is on the faculty at Des Moines Family Therapy Institute. She maintains a private practice specializing in therapy for couples and families with a special focus on family members struggling with anxiety and depression. She serves on the editorial boards of Family Process, Journal of Feminist Family Therapy, and Affilia: Journal of Woman and Social Work. Her publications include the edited book, Women Feminism and Family Therapy and numerous publications examining women's role in the family and the workplace. Since joining AFTA in 1984, she has held several positions, including: Nominations Committee Chair, 1990-91; Board Member, 1992-1995; Secretary, 1995-1997; Membership Chair, 1997-99; and Program Chair, 1994 and 2001. She was the recipient of AFTA' s Innovative Contribution to Family Therapy Award in 1994 for her work as Founding Editor of the Journal of Feminist Family Therapy.
Lois Braverman, M.S.W, lehrt am Des Moines Institut für Familientherapie. Sie arbeitet in freier Praxis speziell im Bereich der Paar- und Familientherapie, wobei ein besonderer Schwerpunkt auf der Arbeit mit Familienmitgliedern liegt, die unter Angstzuständen oder Depression leiden. Sie ist Mitherausgeberin der Zeitschriften Family Process, Journal of Feminist Family Therapy und Affilia: Journal of Woman and Social Work. Unter ihren Veröffentlichungen sind das von ihr auch herausgegebene Buch Women Feminism and Family Therapy und zahlreiche Arbeiten zur Untersuchung der Rolle der Frau in der Familie und am Arbeitsplatz. Seit ihrem Beitritt zur AFTA 1984 hatte sie innerhalb der Organisation mehrere Positionen inne, u. a. war sie Vorsitzende des Nominierungsausschusses (1990-1991), Vorstandsmitglied (1992-1995), Schriftführerin (1995-1997), Vorsitzende des Mitgliederausschusses (1997-1999) und des Programmausschusses (1994 und 2001). Für ihre Arbeit als Gründungsherausgeberin des Journal of Feminist Family Therapy verlieh ihr die AFTA 1994 den Preis für innovative Beiträge zur Familientherapie.

Dr Charlotte Burck is a systemic psychotherapist, family therapy trainer and researcher at the Tavistock Clinic, London, UK. She runs a Doctorate programme for qualified family therapists. Her PhD research, Exploration of Life in Several Languages used a combination of a grounded analysis and discursive approach to explore multiple subjectivity and relational identities in bilingual/multilingual individuals. She has previously carried out research into the process of change in family therapy, and has written on gender and family therapy.

Since 1991 teacher at the University of Applied Sciences St. Gallen, Switzerland, with theories and methods of social work as her main subjects. 1998-2002 further training in systemic psychotherapy with R. Welter-Enderlin and her team. Co-Editor and –author of Systemorientierte Sozalpädagogik, Haupt Verlag, 2003.
