Education: School for Higher Vocational Education. 1976: director of ORION; development of the ORION Hometraining Programme. Since 1987 I have been developing Marte Meo programmes. The meaning of ‚Marte Meo’ is derived from the Latin ‚mars martis’, a term used in mythology to express ‚On One’s Own Strength’. I developed concrete detailed information to encourage people to use their own strength to advance and stimulate developmental processes. I developed these programmes in my own organisation in co-operation with specific profession groups from over twenty different countries.

Dr Angela Abela holds a PhD from the Child and Family Department of the Tavistock Clinic London and the University of London. She is a clinical psychologist and a senior lecturer in psychology at the University of Malta with a special interest in children and families. Corinna Ahlers, PhD, is a therapist and supervisor at an institute for marriage and family therapy and in her own practice. She is president of the Austrian Association for Systemic Therapy and Systemic Studies (ÖAS), Vienna. Born 1958 in Sta. Cruz de Tenerife, Spain. She studied psychology in Vienna until 1982, furthermore completed a psychotherapeutical training in group dynamics and systemic family therapy and started to train in psychoanalysis, which she later abandoned due to other preferences in her work. She has two sons, one (13) from an earlier relationship and one (5) from her current marriage. Interests: methodical and theoretic discussions in family therapy, researching practice. Since 1995 she has been lecturing at the Institute for Ecologic-Systemic Therapy in Zurich (director: Prof. Dr. Juerg Willi). She is co-director and teacher at the institute “Stellwerk” (signal box) in Kriens, Switzerland, which offers, among others, training in constellation work.

Dr Vanghelis ANASTASSIOU, 47 years old, is psychiatrist, praticien hospitalier attaché at St-Cloud general hospital (neighbourhood of Paris) as psychiatrist and systemic family therapist. He is also in private practice in Paris. He is member of EFTA, Association for Family Therapy (UK) and Société Française d’Alcoologie et Addictologie.
From ’82 to ’88 he worked as systemic therapist at several mental hospitals of Paris’suburbs and Emergency Unites of General Hospitals (Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris).
The last fifteen years he is particularly involved in alcoholic patients’ treatments and especially in tri-generational family therapy of alcoholic and children-focused family therapy of alcoholic and group therapy. He published some articles on these subjects.
He is also president of the association “le sas” who promotes family foster care for alcoholic patients.

She received her Doctorate from the University of Bath, U.K. She trained as a systemic and family therapist at the Laboratory for the Study of Human Relations where she now works as Supervisor. She is also in private practice. She is interested in the study of narrative metaphor as applied to therapy and other related fields, and in the applications of qualitative methodology.
