Vita:
Wawrzyniak, Michel, professor of clinical psychology at the University of Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens (France). Also a consultant in the Centre of the Buttes-Chaumont in Paris. The main field of my research is the psychology and psychopathology of adolescence. I have taken a lot of interest in the beginings of psychotic disorders of this age group. But also in the depresive disorders, attempted suicide in adolescence, addictive behaviours and behavioral disorders... Recently, I have taken an interest in the behaviour disorders in early adolescence, concerning the struggle for recognition which marks early adolescence. I also have an interest in psychology of extreme situations : trauma, stress, coping… My initial training was phenomenological, throught the work of Françoise and Eugène Minkowski. Next, I trained in the psychonalytical approach. At present, I'm more and more attracted to a family and systemic approach. These different approachs are not incompatible with each others, but rather
complementary.

Kaethe Weingarten, Ph.D., is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School and a faculty member of the Family Institute of Cambridge. She is founder and director of The Witnessing Project, a nonprofit organization that consults to individuals, families, and communities locally, nationally, and internationally to transform passive witnessing of violence and violation to effective action. Her most recent book is Common Shock – Witnessing Violence Every Day: How We Are Harmed, How We Can Heal. Dr. Weingarten has worked in Kosovo and South Africa for the last several years, addressing issues of community-wide trauma. She has over 40 publications, including six books; is on the editorial boards of five journals; served on the AFTA Board from 1995-2001; and was honored by AFTA in 2002 with the Award for Distinguished Contribution to Family Therapy Theory and Practice.

Systemic Psychotherapist UKCP Reg. AFT, IFT. I was born in Germany and moved to the U.K. in 1960. Qalification as Social Worker in 1978 (LSE) and as Systemic Family Therapist in 1989 (UCL). I obtained a practice teacher qualification as social worker and UKCP accreditation as family therapist and supervisor. I have worked in Child and Adolescent mental health clinics since 1980, primarily in inner London and until 2002 in the Maudsley Hospital, London, where I also taught on the Family Therapy Certificate and MSc courses at the Institute of Psychiatry. Recently I have completed a master's course in social anthropology in order to gain a different perspective on understanding how families and groups deal with life events. I am interested in family relationships, which includes all age groups; issues of migration, survival and resolution of conflict.

Dr. Chana Winer has lived and worked in the U.S., Israel, Germany and Russia as a clinician, lecturer, trainer and supervisor. She has lectured, led workshops and panels at international conferences around the world, and is the former president of The International Family Therapy Association (IFTA, 2001-2003.) Chana Winer was a leader in the field of Russian Family Therapy. While living in Moscow, she co-founded the Institute for Family Studies, taught at Moscow State University, was a lecturer and supervisor at the Training Institute of the Academy of Sciences, supervisor at the Autistic Children's Institute, and adviser to the Russian Parliament in their efforts to pass laws that address family violence. She considers her major contribution to the field to be the introduction of a systemic, interactional and solution-oriented model to the Russian psychological community. Dr. Winer has been in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual private practice for over 20 years. She currently lives in Israel, where she joined the Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel’s staff as clinician and supervisor of the practicum program.
